About the Hampta Pass Trek:

The Hampta Pass trek has the starting point as Manali. From Manali, you will be taken to Jobra and then to Chika located at a height of about 10,100 feet. The route will have plenty of greenery, River Rani and the mountainous stretches on one side. When you climb up to reach Balu ka Ghera from Chika, On this impressive journey catch the first glimpses of the mighty towers in Dhauladhar Ranges occupy the entire frame with meadows and flower-filled valleys. What awaits you next are the gradual slopes until you reach the mighty Hampta Pass and on the way, Hampta Village will be your host for some time. Discover the serene calmness that surrounds the valley.

The ultimate destination of the trek is the beautiful Chandratal located amidst the pristine surroundings dominated by the white peaks and clouds above. A confluence of three paths – Hampta Pass, Spiti, and Rohtang Pass and the green paradise will accompany you to achieve the height of about 14,100ft.

Itinerary

Day 1: Manali – Jobra (Drive) Trek from Jobra to Chika (10,100 ft)

  1. Arrival at Manali Base Camp in the morning.
  2. The group will assemble where briefing session will be provided by the trek leader.
  3. After that we will head towards Jobra Village, where the trek starts. The drive is scenic and 2 hours long.
  4. After relaxing for a while, we will start our trek to Chika.
  5. The initial trek is through the pine forest until we reach the Rani river valley. The entire trail is flat and mild uphill and it passes through the valley along the Rani river. We reach our campsite maximum by late afternoon and relax.
  6. We will set up camp in Chika followed by Dinner & Stay overnight.

 

Note: The pick-up point would be 17th Miles Manali (tentative). If you arrive in Manali, one day before, it would help your body adapt better to the altitude and weather.

 

Day 2: Chika (10,100ft) – Balu ka Ghera (Trek: 8 km, Duration: 5 hrs, Altitude: 12,100 ft).

  1. After having breakfast, we will start our journey from Jobra to Balu ka Ghera (named so because of the bear terrain), as it is the hibernating place for bears in winters.
  2. The trek will again be full of challenges and panoramic views with gradual ascents and descents and a flat walk after river crossing to reach the campsite.and streams and experience the blossoming of nature.
  3. After Reaching Balu ka Ghera, we will set camp among the mountains beyond which the Hampta pass awaits us.
  4. Followed by Dinner and spend a night under millions of stars.

 

Day 3: Balu ka Gera (12,100 ft) – Siagoru (12,900 ft) and crossing Hampta Pass. (Trek: 12 km, Duration:         8 hrs, Altitude: 14100 ft)

  1. After breakfast, we will head towards our next campsite which is Sia Goru., we can aim to leave the campsite by 7 am as the journey ahead is long and somewhat tiring.
  2. It will be a very adventurous day as we reach the highest altitude today at Hampta Pass (14,100ft).and we can see a variety of flowers all along the way. We will go from Balu Ka Ghera to Sia Goru, which is at an altitude of 12,900 feet.
  3. The initial trail is an gradual ascent which will leads you to a slope of boulders and rough terrain.
  4. It will take about 4-5 hours to reach Hampta Pass (14,000 feet), and from there it will take a few more hours to descend to Sia Goru.
  5. There will be a steep slope to reach the Sia Goru camp site, where you will enjoy a beautiful sunset from Hanuman Tibba peak.
  6. After Reaching, we will set camp for the night and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
  7. Followed by Dinner and overnight stay in Sia Goru.

 

Day 4: Siagoru to Chhatru, drive to Chandratal, & back to chhatru campsite ( Drive: 49 km, Trek: 5 km, Duration: 8-9 hrs, Altitude: 12,300 ft)

  1. Today we are heading towards Chatru, and often this is the place that will offer us the most breathtaking and unforgettable views of the valleys of Lahaul and Spiti.
  2. The trek is easiest of all previous days as we have to descend all the way to Chattru it will takes around 3hrs.
  3. Chatru is the focal point of three places, namely Hampta Pass, Rohtang Pass and Spiti Valley. This part of the trek will be followed by a jeep ride to Chandratal, which is believed to be the place from where the greatest Pandava Yudhishthira ascended to heaven.
  1. Once we reach Chatru, we'll drive towards Chandratal which is a beautiful lake located 45 kilometers away from the campsite. However, the drive would only be possible if the weather permits as the harsh weather conditions could be a hindrance.
  1. We'll head back to Chatru where we will set up base camp. The path will be slippery on this day.
  1. Dinner will be served followed by an overnight stay in Chattru

 

Day 5: Drive from Chhatru to Manali Base Camp (Drive: 83 km, Duration: 4.5 hrs, Altitude: 6,730 ft.)

  • Post breakfast, we will start our return journey and drive from Chatru to Manali. The scenic drive consists of mesmerizing views of majestic mountains with the Chandra river flowing by.  You also get to traverse through the  Atal Tunnel which itself makes the drive extremely rewarding.
  • Reach Manali by Late afternoon and board your bus to Delhi in the evening and overnight Journey to Delhi.
